Did anyone notice ...

The attendants/health professionals use the following words: "psycho unit"
"nympho ward" and many other offensive terms that in today's standards would be considered unethical, and politically incorrect. Heck you can get in a whole lot of trouble for saying those things.

Later in a scene where the attendant and reporter Johnny Barett are in a room discussing his hospitalization, Barett asks: "am I the only loony on this ward?" and the attendant kindly reminds him to never use terms such as "nuts", "bugs", "screwy", "goofy", "loony". :-)

I wonder if this double standard was thrown in there intentionally to portray satire ? any thoughts ? ...

I'd say it was intentional and reflects that the only valid sense of thinking is that you (patient) have none.

The movie would have worked better for me if they made the decline of our protagonist more ambiguous, especially near the end.

Sam Fuller's thing was to highlight the hypocrisy and corrupt undercurrent of the "respectable" and righteous for any given situation.

You noticed one of his trademarks.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
