The Trial Milestone DVD

I finally got it, and at an affordable $18 from some buy selling it on Amazon. It's in perfect condition and I am completely happy with the quality. Thanks for all your opinions about which disc to get.

I recently discovered a good Welles website, wellesnet.com, it's pretty cool, some extra info and a messageboard to talk all about Orson.

I've been to wellesnet.com. It's great! It features the script and stills from a deleted scene from The Trial! In this scene the computer telles K the crime he is most likely to commit. It's a pretty cool answer, to anyone who's seen the film. Check it out!

That makes me want to try and find the Studio Canal version now, just for the deleted scene. I'm not that obsessive though, maybe someday

There's a Studio Canal version!? Where can I get it? I am that obsessive! Any information would be much appreciated.

As I mentioned in another thread on this board, the Studio Canal version has the cleanest print of The Trial you'll find anywhere. The disc also contains a 40 minute documentary, the trailer, stills and the deleted scene. Here are the drawbacks. It's region 2 and PAL so you'll need a player that can play both. The doc and trailer are in French, with no English audio or English subtitles. The deleted scene has no sound at all. There is also a second disc that has the american cut of the film.

The disc can be purchased from Amazon.fr under the name Le Proces. Apparently there is a UK version of this disc coming out in the spring but (so far) it will NOT have any extras.

I've read that parts of the original film were out of sync, so it may not be Milestone's fault. The only part I remember where it was obvious was the scene where K and Romy Scheider are in the pile of papers.

O.K. I hope I'm doing this right. (Please point out my stupidity - non grammar) After reading many posts on the various transfers of this great movie I've come to this decision. I'm ordering the warner region 2 dvd from Amazon UK because its supposed to be the same transfer as the Studio Canal version. The Studio Canal is supposed to be the best ever. (according to posts) So they are the same, right? Difference: The Warner UK has no special features unlike the France dvd but the special features on the French dvd are not in English. So I shouldn't miss much (except for some deleted non sound scene and a French documentary) cuz I don't understand French. Either for the dvd or the amazon France site. I figured out the British site even though it was in British and not in English, but the French one was kinda hard (I couldn't figure out price so I gave up on it quickly and decided to order the warner u.k. dvd) I hope I've made the right choice, please let me know.

WOOHOO!! I got my Warner U.K. copy of the Trial. It is the same as the Studio Canal version. It took me a while but I transfered it from PAL to NTSC and took off the region code. Not fun or easy to do but worth it for this great flick.

Anyone have any information about the Alpha Video version at Best Buy? I'm curious to buy this movie, but would like the milestone DVD because of the quality.

Does anyone know if the Alpha Video version of The Trial is equal or better than the milestone DVD?

Any information on the DVD's will be greatly appreciated, thank you very much.

i have the 7.99 alpha video dvd, its alittle fuzzy and the sound quality isnt that great but its a watchable transfer of a great film. I havent seen any other transfers so i cant compare.
