Studio Canal version

Does anyone know where I can find the Studio Canal DVD? All I can find is the Laserlight and the Milestone releases.

And dare I say this: the studio canal version is fantastic!!!

Wish they would print a new version of "Chimes at Midnight". They did back in 2005, but for some idiotic version, it went out of print and no effort has been made to reprint it (whereas Third Man, The Trial etc were reprinted seperately)

beware, the Studio Canal DVDs from the Netherlands / the UK only contain the cut version of the film and not the original directors cut!
the bonus material is good but the film cut is not recommendable (some of the most impressive scenes are missing, including the prologue).

Do both versions have the same footage? I was under the impression that this and Kane are the only 2 Welles film's that were untampered with?

Judging by the length, 113 mins, the Optimum is a cut version. Drats.

The Milestone copy on an Image release isn't at all bad. It's uncut, clocking in at 119 1/2 minutes including the DVD credits, and has an acceptably sharp picture.

Note that Netflix's copy is a cheapo Westlake Entertainment release with poorer picture quality.

I bought mine from ebay.fr via paypal and had no problem, total cost with shipping was about $24.00 and recieved it within a week shipped to the USA.

Studio Canal, region 2, 16x9, PAL double disc. Excellent picture quality. Also some report there is forced French subtitles on one of the discs, that is not true! I turned off the French subtitles on each disc during the movie. I do not know about the extras though?

Thanks.
