Does anyone know what statue is shown covered in the film?
I read some papers on THE TRIAL, one refers to it as a statue of Jesus with uplifted arms, in the other it is seen as statue of Justice.

Not clear. Its arms are raised in a position of beatification. Probably a saint, the virgin Mary, Jesus...

A martyr would certainly be in order.

That statue is one of the better production details of this very grim, compelling film.
