'The Trial' contra '1984'

I have to do a literary analysis (presented orally) of "1984" and kafka's "The Trial", in which I comment upon the historical inspiration for them, where the similarities between them lie, and finally, conclude where they belong in world literature: influence, literary style etc. So are there any experts out there, that would be willing to share their wisdom, and help me.

Where do you see the similarities, in terms of themes, structure, literary style, narrator and so on. And how important would you say they are, or have been, in world literature?

Thanks,

(btw, I also posted this on the the "1984" page)

Neither file has the imagery of a rubber duckie swimming in a bowl of vegetable beef soup.
