Confused about plot summary

Hi everyone. I just got done watching The Trial, an as usual for movies like this I'm confounded by the plot summary on Wikipedia.

First of all, it says something about K being executed on "the day before his 31st birthday." It's entirely possible I just missed a stray line of dialogue - was this revealed during all the business with the birthday cake?

Also, the Wikipedia summary says that after K goes to the cathedral the priest tells him he's going to be executed. I didn't remember this being explicitly stated so I went back and I couldn't find it. Is the version shown on TCM incomplete or am I just dense? Thanks!

What's the Spanish for drunken bum?

i dont remember that. maybe from the book.

just bought the roan group laserdisc and it's lovely.

i get the feeling alot of it influenced brazil. and the scene with the children reminded me of the end of blade runner with the light shining through.

The books final chapter starts off with : On the evening before his 31st birthday - it was about nine o'clock, when the streets are quiet - two men came to K's apartment.

In the book & film the priest says K's case is going badly, nothing about being executed.
