YES' Owner of a Lonely Heart and ORSON WELLES' The Trial (SPOILER)
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I was just watching one of picking up some memories from youth and watched YES' video OWNER OF A LONELY HEART and and saw some interesting things about it that made me click it with one of my all time favorites Orson Welles' THE TRIAL based of course on Franz Kafka's last novel, also a favorite of mine, and this is why:
1. The character in the video resembles Anthony Perkins a lot even in clothing
2. Automat/robotized character types walking all along the video as well as in the the film
3. two arresting officers dressed in dark trenchcoats and hats
4. Long winding hallsthrough the ones the main character and Josef K are lead through
5. Type writer hall
6. There's a mysterious court hall scene too with a apparent quick verdict being impossed
7. There's of course a reluctance by the video character to be taken to be punished, who escapes
8. During said escape, the video character (to me) represents what would've happened if, in the present, Josef K would've done instead of blowing himself up in a city the quick and obvious would've been to throw himslef from a building.
9. Free will is constantly heard through the lyrics and is the premise of the movie and hence, the novel.
If someone would like to take up this topic with me I'd be very grateful.
Best wishes
