i always thought the idea behind these pink panther series came from the book "Fantomas" by Marcel Allain. waat do you think eh?

Either way, I seriously doubt it.
The concept of gentlemen thieves and shadowy figures under the name Phantom is hardly new, both date back centuries at least.
