This movie was on the other night so I recorded it. I like Peter Sellers and expected to be entertained. However, the plot never advanced. I got through 45 excruciating minutes before I finally stopped the tape. Fans of this movie, please tell me how this movie has a 7.2 average on IMDB? If a movie goes nowhere for the first 45 minutes, how do expect to keep your audience engaged? I really wanted to enjoy this movie. I had to give it a 1 because I failed to finish it. Why do people consider this pointless movie to be good?

It is a really slow movie. It wasn't until about an hour or so into it that I was finally sure of all the character's places and motivations. While this did disappoint me, there were later scenes that were very hysterical, such as the bedroom scene with Mrs. Clouseau juggling all her men, and the chase scene at the end. I'm somewhat glad to hear, though, that this is a pretty different movie from the rest of the series; after I was done, I was slightly confused and thought I had lost my sense of humor for the day, after all I had heard. I would suggest getting through the whole movie, and then perhaps giving it another try. I'll definitely watch it again; there's a chance it's more engaging after you know what's going on.
They dont even really mention the diamond until about a full hour into the movie. This movie was horrible, so slow and boring. Jack Clouseau's wife was an utter horrible slut of a character with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. And David Niven is a horrible actor and his character was boring as watching paint dry.
I like all the Pink Panther movies with Sellers in them, but I would agree that the original Pink Panther took too long, but in the end it became hysterical! That set the stage for the sequels that all went in fast and ended up being, once again, HYSTERICAL! --- Oh my god! You killed Fritz! You yellow stinking fairies killed Fritz!
