I like this movie, but I wouldn't go as far as to say "best movie of all time".
What about such great films as Pulp Fiction, The Godfather, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Psycho, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Schindler's List, Casablanca, Apocalypse Now, Rain Man, The Matrix, Jaws, Lawrence of Arabia, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Reservoir Dogs, Raiders of the Lost Ark, etc.
I'd call RAIN MAN plain overrated and you forgot to mention SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION in your list.
shareAs far as I can tell her post did say "favorite," not "greatest." There is a pretty marked distinction between the two.
My own top 10 favorites include The Pink Panther, Clue, Serenity, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Ghostbusters. But I would never presume to say that they are among the ten greatest films of all-time. That kind of epithet is reserved for movies like Casablanca, Rear Window, On the Waterfront, etc.
