To give non N.Americans an idea of the power of La Chinoise- it wasn't released until 2008 here in the Statea.....
We have yet to see a director like Godard, although China seems to be a fertile ground for his successor. I guess the west has become complacent and bought off by producers et al, unwilling to make bold statements. The strongest condemnations of the Capitalist system have come recently in new American neorealism but still, we ain't putting anything on the line compared to those in the east.....
