Yayyyyyyyy! (Supposedly the dog in Hondo is Lassie (or a Lassie relative).
shareI certainly hope that the DVD of McLintock! to be released October 11 is better than the peesacrap disc released by a company called Good Times Video. I bought that DVD, thinking it was the definitive edition, and found to my dismay that it was improperly panned&scanned, contained numerous film gate scratches, and was an even worse-looking copy than the VHS version of the same film. Naturally I returned the DVD to the seller, and received a discount less ten per cent (for "processing" costs).

English subtitles are a MUST on all DVD releases!

After reading it, I preordered this one and I'm really looking forward to watching it. I've been waiting for a widescreen version of this one for a long time. Back in the days of laser disc, there was a widescreen version announced, but sadly, it never got released. And by the way, the other Paramount John Wayne DVDs are excellent as well.
I agree ... there ought to be a law ... Delta and Goodtimes studios produce garbage, but if a Paramount release means an original theatrical master authorized by the Wayne estate, then this is fantastic news.
I've been very happy with the MPI print I have on VHS, but before I take the plunge this time, I'll wait for a few opinions from folks who bought one before I end-up tossing out a third DVD.
I just checked with my retailer, and sure enough, they have it for only $10.49 (a widescreen edition with some interesting extras too), listed right there among the trash studios.
That's a far cry from the $24.99 I paid to obtain the MPI VHS version (a beautiful print), but that's exactly why I need some reassurance from satisfied customers.
I'm not complaining, but frankly, I expected a higher-than-bargain price tag for the official DVD release of "McLintock", and that's what has me wondering.

Oh good. My dad owns a bootleg VHS copy. Bootleg to the point where there are no end credits. Looks like I found his Christmas present.
personally, I liked the movie. I don't get into many old western movies like this one...but I enjoyed it.
