Pronunciation of McLintock

I just thought it was kinda funny the way everyone pronounced McLintock's name differently. Some would say it with no pause and a silent T as either Ma-klin-ik or Ma-klin-uk. Others would say it with a pause Ma-klin-TOCK or Ma-klin- TICK with the emphasis on TOCK or TICK. I think Mr. Wayne even pronounced it differently at times. Since his name was said a million times in the movie, the varying pronunciations became sort of jarring. I guess it was just a hard name to say.

Yvonne DeCarlo pronounces it al,ost as a single syllable!

"What do you want me to do, draw a picture? Spell it out!"

It seemed to me that his friends would call him, "maclinic" while the bureaucrats and the pompous people would call him Mc 0Lin- tock

I think you're hearing the Scottish and Irish pronunciations... Mac-Lintock and Miclin-tock
