OK, I Know This Is Ipsey-Pipsey, But. . .

This was the main reason I just created my IMDB account!! I'm glad I wasn't the only person annoyed by this. Where I live there is a road with the same name. It's pronounced McLinTOCK. I guess it wouldn't have bothered me so much if everyone would've pronounced it the same.

I have seen this movie at least a dozen times and it has always irritated me. When the name of the movie, the name of the town in the movie and the main characters are named McLintock then everyone should pronounce it the same.

I am fairly certain they had her pronounce the name that way to emphasize where the family came from. My family comes from the same area (Oklahoma/Texas) that the Warren family came from and in that area that is exactly how they would pronounce "McClintock". In fact, I will remember until the day I die what my grandmother said to a storekeeper in Seaside, Ca. the first week she was here when he said something about the way she talked. She said "Sir, you sound just as funny to me as I do to you!". She's been gone a long time. I still miss her very much.

I am a little surprised the OP didn't mention the other characters who did not pronounce his name correctly. If you listen closely, "Bunny" (Edgar Buchanan) also pronounced McLintock's name the same way. Also, the Commanche all pronounced his name "MACKLIN". Just sayin'....
