What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.

Wasn't Groucho supposed to be in it? I think they had offered a part to one of the Laurel & Hardy guys (forget which one), but he turned it down since the other had passed away, & he didn't want to do any more films without his partner.

Stan Laurel kept his promise. He never did work again after Oliver Hardy died in 1957.

I read that they wanted Groucho in the final scene, possibly delivering the film's last line. Maybe Groucho didn't think it was a big enough part?
