Stunning women
Sid Caesar and Milton Berle certainly had gorgeous wives in this movie, right?
shareDorothy Provine (Mrs.Finch), was quite a babe. I remember developing a bit of a crush on her upon seeing this film as a kid when it was first released.
Even then the age difference (Berle was 26 and a half years her senior), puzzled me. Maybe he got his trophy wife by promising her furs and diamonds from his edible seaweed business!
I heard Berle had quite the lengthy sausage between his legs.

You guys may be surprised to learn that many women don't appreciate a baseball bat-sized penis. Hurts. It isn't that big a deal. Just FYI.
shareElephants are pretty well-hung, too, but I don't know of any women that want to sleep with one.

And Ethel Merman (Mrs. Marcus) was just 6 months older than Berle. Yeah I guess Finch must have been a millionaire before he married Emmaline, so that Mrs. Marcus would approve the marriage. In fact she invested in his seaweed company; I assume he lost all the money in seaweed but Emmaline and the mother stayed with him to nag.
shareGood point. Has anyone ever heard of edible seaweed catching on in the marketplace? To the best of my knowledge there has never been a seaweed fad. Perhaps in a way this movie was ahead of its time in spoofing Californians who might embrace such a thing.
shareWell it is popular as a "superfood" and some is used for sushi. But no I have not heard of Green Giant Seaweed for example.
But yeah perhaps Finch was ahead of his time as far as Californians go, and figured underwater farming would be the future. He may have gotten a lot of investors together (including the Marcus family) and started the edible seaweed company. Since he said he liked eating it, he may have convinced investors that everyone will enjoy eating it, it's rich in vitamins, etc. But he misjudged the public tastes at the time, and the price was too high as well.
The role of Russell Finch really should have gone to Bob Newhart.

Yeah, Sandra Dee was a teenie bopper babe, but Edie Adams was a real bombshell. Sylvesters girlfriend was a zombie in waiting, but hot nonetheless.
shareYou forgot about Schwartz, the female cop/secretary. Total babe played by Madlyn Rhue.
shareAnd how about that ZaSu Pitts! ZOWIE!
shareIn the extended version one gets to see her wiggle not once but twice. Worth seeing for that alone, even if you skip over the other 196 minutes.
shareTrue. Also in the extended version you see more of Barrie Chase's dancing (to a faster song as well).
shareA good point about Barrie Chase's gyrations. As a kid, I believe I saw the extended version (on the big screen) and recall getting bored with all of her wiggling. But I was only about 10 years old. Now, I'm old enough to know better!
shareEdie Adams,total class...pure and simple.
