This really brings back memories

I'm at that age where I can't remember what happened 6 minutes ago, but remember things clear as a bell from when I was 6 years old. It was at age 6 that my family went out to Seattle for the World's Fair. This movie brings back so many memories of that fair -- the Space Needle, the Monorail, the Science Pavillian, what became known as Key Arena, etc., etc., etc. I kind of feel like I'm 6 years old again when I see this movie. Some day, I need to go back to Seattle.

Well, unfortunately, you won't see much of what was there in '62. Apart from the Space Needle, the Monorail and the Science Center (which has also changed a LOT in the last two decades), almost all of what was there is essentially gone now.

Growing up in Seattle in the '70s, the Seattle Center (which is what they called the fairgrounds after the Fair closed) was a lot like it was during the prior decade. But then stuff started closing down and disappearing...and now the place that I knew as a kid is basically unrecognizable to me.

I know, I know - it happens to everyone's cherished childhood memories. Still, sadness.
