Where's the music?
Anybody know why the songs (it was originally a Broadway musical) were cut from the film?

shareNope, sorry.
However, Jack Lemmon did release an album of tracks from this movie, where Jack is mainly playing the piano. If you are interested in any vocal albums, check out the album of song tracks that he did from the movie Some Like It Hot! It's titled "A Twist of Lemmon/Some Like It Hot". Trying to google it to find out more!
The title of the Irma La Douce soundtrack is simply "Music from Irma La Douce".

IMDB says that the songs were cut because Billy Wilder did not feel comfortable staging song and dance numbers. (Did he never think of hiring a choreographer?) One number remains in truncated form, "Dis-Donc," which is nice because it showcases Shirley MacLaine's musical talents.
shareYeah, after seeing a teaser from Kultur, and knowing that this film was made during the musical hey-day, I'm really shocked that this adaptation wasn't kept in its original form.
I just can't get my head around that.
