Andre Previn did NOT compose the score
It was composed by Marguerite Monnot for Broadway. Previn arranged the same music for the film, as the songs themselves were cut. IMDB should really correct this.

shareThanks for pointing this out. Giving Previn full credit for the score is very unfair to Marguerite Monnot. I'm surprised that a talent of such stature as Previn has permitted it.
shareI just heard a fragment of familiar music in the score of Irma la Douce, and realized it was Previn's music from Elmer Gantry.
So he was "borrowing" from himself, as well.
I was only half paying attention, so I don't know if it was meant as a joke due to what was happening onscreen at that moment. I will have to watch for it another time.

She wrote the big 50s hit "The Poor People of Paris" (very catchy song, here in US popularized by Les Baxter at #1 and among others, Chet Atkins and Lawrence Welk, in UK by Winifred Atwell also @#1),. Edith Piaf first did the song..,originally called Balled of Poor Jean aka La Goulant Da Pavres Jeans.,..but LB's Capital label misunderstood the title (the international "Jean", changed unintionally to the all French "gens":-People)..; "La Vie En Rose" would be another of one of her biggest..
