In top 250 list

How come HUD is not in top 250 movie list?

reply

As I said before on my previous post. This movie is getting hated on. It has 3,000 plus votes and a rating that would put it on the top 250. THE ADMINS SHOULD WAKE UP AND DO SOMETHING, BUT THEY DON'T EXIST!!!!!

Hud is one of my favorite movies of all time. I can't believe how underrated it still is after all these years. Apart from Patty Neal and Mervyn Douglas winning their Oscar that year the film itself seems to have faded from a lot of folks' memories. Newman was at his very best here. Classic movie, desevres to be in the Top 250

This should be on the IMDB 250 list

AND

AFI'S 100 Greatest American Movies.

Its absence from both is a little disturbing

'Hud's' appalling absence from various "Top" lists seems to answer the question that Hud spits at his father: "How many honest men do you know?" The film industry - and professional critics and celebrity "news" are merely a parasitical, symbiotic part of the industry - is not about honesty or ethics, it's...show business, and a business is about making money. So the film industry kowtows, hews, and surrenders itself to fashion - not just to runway fashion but also to political, social, and every sort and shade of fashion. 'Hud' is about the elemental choice a man makes between virtue and vice, so it's not nowadays in fashion; and when a person or a thing is not in fashion little or no money can be made from him or it.

Of course 'Hud' is in every cinematic dimension a brilliant film. Nowadays moral relativism is the going thing, though, it's the fashion; so a film with that level-gazed, bore-through-to-the-soul line, "You're an unprincipled man, Hud," doesn't currently carry a lot of water. There are a lot of people out there, because it's today's relativist fashion, who sell diseased stock any and every way they can sell it to whomever they can hoodwink into buying it. If you don't think that's true, then spend just one night watching broadcast or cable television, or have a serious look at the films in theatres - and count how many of those programs or films is as bore-through-to-the-soul good as 'Hud' is.

Hey Fellas,

Where can I find this "Top 250"? I'm equally appalled that HUD is not on the list; however, I'm excited that such a list exists...
This is maybe one of my top 100, and I'd be surprised at any true film buff who doesn't recognize HUD as a masterpiece of storytelling. And it's a shame that the IMDB doesn't do the same...Again: what's this Top 250? I'd really LOVE to see that deal, y'know...Please tell me where the link is, wouldja? Thanks in advance, and as always, selah.

Okay,
Bobbo

It's not even on the AFI? All that Hollywood fare, and no HUD?
