Well now I know how they came up with Sawyer from LOST

Sawyer is basically Hud on an island. They're more or less the same character, good looking, charming, cold-hearted bastards with slight traces of humanity that they dont know how to show. They look out for themselves above all else, and they aren't afraid to rip other people off to get what they want.

I'm not sure Sawyer was deliberately inspired by Hud, but interestingly, I thought of Sawyer while watching this movie, too.

Funny you say that I was just watching LOST last night as im just getting into the show and I thought of this comparison as well! I was so happy to see someone else thought that way as well.
