If Patricia Neal was nominated supporting for Hud

Would Shirley MacLaine had won lead after loosing for The Apartment.

The Oscar acting winners in 1963 should have been:
Lead Actor: Sidney Poitier, Lilies of the Field
Lead Actress: Shirley MacLaine, Irma la Douce
Supporting Actor: Melvyn Douglas, Hud
Supporting Actress: Patricia Neal, Hud

I a book about the first 60 years of Oscars it says of Patricia Neal's character:
Alma was a breif role but a strong one.
Alma had no high dramatic moments and was played in the background to the other characters.

No, Leslie Caron would have won for "THe L-Shaped Room"...she's splendid in the film, and she did win the Golden Globe and the Bafta in 1964.
