Excellent Film

Hud is such an excellent film. Everything is just about perfect. The performances, the scenery, the dialogue. I'm partial to Paul Newman films, he is one of my all time favorite actors, but there is so much more to like about this film than just him. Melvyn Douglas gives what I consider to be a top 10 all time performance. Patricia Neal and Brandon DeWilde are also excellent. Maybe the best ensemble performance by a cast I've ever seen. Like I said a lot to like about this all time classic.

Amen. This is one film where you are totally sucked into the Texas panhandle lifestyle of 1962. It's characters are so real that you want to know so much more about them than the movie has to offer.

I wonder if this kind of film would be made today? I think not since the attention span of movie goers on average is like a 5 yr. old.

I just watched it and I agree it's a very good FILM. Classic drama...so different from todays movies.
