I can't believe this film isn't in the top 250. I think it deserves to be in at least the top 50, maybe the top 25. I can't think of many better movies. As far as ensemble acting goes, probably top 5 all time in that category. Anyone agree?

Ya. A 7.9. I was disappointed too. It's important to remember that IMDB is dominated by a younger demographic and that might be a factor, especially considering some of the movies that are in the top 250.
shareYou mean like 12 angry men from 1957 or seven samurai also from 1957 and in Japanese being in the top 10? No, the youngsters have little to do with it and the scores are an overall fairly accurate representation of the overall like-ability of a film. A 7.9 is a great score and deservedly so.
shareWhen you see some of the movies on that list (especially the positions of the younger film nerds' favorites, e.g., Fight Club, The Dark Knight, etc), it can be irritating to see terrific films such as this one missing from it. But hey, we know this is a great film... and it don't need to be on no stinkin' list to prove that.
