So, who climbed through the window railing and jumped?

I've seen this movie many times over the years and it's one of my favorites. One thing I've always wondered about: when Eleanor goes out to one of the terraces to get air, she looks up and, focusing on one high window, says something like, "that's how she did it - climbing through the railing....hanging on......" to whom was she referring? Abigail died in the nursery, her companion hanged herself from the spiral staircase, Crain wife no.1 died on the driveway and wife no.2 was pushed down the stairs. What am I missing?

Eleanor is looking at the outside of the window where just inside would be the top of the spiral staircase from which the companion hanged herself. The railing she references is the railing of the staircase not the window.

Thanks. I always assumed she was referring to the bars on the outside. Feeling a bit dense, now.
