Fantastic Cinematography!
I really appreciated the superb cinematography of the movie; a lot of care was taken and inventiveness used. I actually wasn't aware of the lesbian theme until I saw the whole movie, just today. While the film may seem dated, it's interesting as a psychological study, as well as an "is it or isn't it real?" scenario.
I'm going to read the novel very soon. One thing in the movie regarding Eleanor's denying the poltergeist incident, saying it was rocks thrown by neighbors: this fits very much into Jackson's writings, like "The Lottery," and her real-life experience as her family being "outsiders" in their town.
IMO, it's a worthwhile watch, for several reasons!
