Bond Theme Usage

This is in my top 5 of Bond movies however the only thing that bothers me is how the Bond Theme is used. In the later movie it's used to indicate a spectacular moment, but for some reason in this one it's used for all sorts of mundane stuff, the worst being Bond entering his hotel room and just looking around. It doesn't really fit.

They were still working out the series formulas.

The Bond theme in later movies was usually used as part of a climactic action sequence. Here it's background music when he's checking the hotel room for bugs.

...And I find it utterly charming..especially if you are a Connery fan. He JUST gets into the hotel room to check and make himself at home. Thats like a Connery/ Bond porn. Its supposed to be enticing, mesmerizing,...He´s dashing and moves like a cat! AND it works for me, even if its only in this movie.

I totally agree with the OP. I know this is an early Bond film and they were still working on perfecting the Bond genre, but still..... the dramatic theme going on when Bond is just looking around his hotel room and NOTHING happens? Um....okay. And it's weird seeing a Bond film with no words to the theme song during the title sequence credits. How boring. However, they finally got their act together when the next movie came out - Goldfinger, and when they get it right, they get it right! Goldfinger song and theme music was too awesome for words.

I specifically reminded her - bedside table! On the Kangaroo!

What a thing to say, you'd think they were doing something really bad or are just completely careless people, they made the movie their way and it was a classic!

I didn't have a problem with it in this movie. In Dr No, however, it was really overused.

reply

Yeah I know, sh!t blowing up doesn't require any background music but when Bond makes himself a sandwich it's gotta be this huge epic moment.

Agreed. It's quite bizarre usage in the hotel room scene.

reply

Agreed. Its overused in both Dr No, and FRWL.
