As many times as I've watched Strangelove I just realized that with the exception of Mandrake, all the characters are like little kids playing in a sandbox. Mandrake is the only adult and is trying unsuccessfully to get them to behave.

"Mandrake is the only adult". He is the only Brit. Have you not noticed that when Hollywood needs to portray an authoritative figure of mature wisdom they usually choose a Brit actor? Even for iconic American roles like Lincoln.
