The youngest son Billy wanted to kill all the partners of the wealth, one by one, if I'm not mistaken.

Billy was plain guano crazy after accidentally(?) having killed his sister as children and the obvious trauma of the event lead him to go crazy or maybe he was insane all along and it began its current form of murdering family members starting with the youngest sister who was clearly mother's favorite. But I think it's the former argument because of the wax doll he kept along with the headstone that expressed sorrow on his part for Kathleen. He didn't mean to kill her, it was a mistake and the trauma/shock of the situation led him to snap.

The family secret was that Billy's brother and woman were wanting to keep mother out of the picture and sick so as to not interfere with their marriage and inherit what they can and get away from a demented household where the mother wanted to keep her sons as close to her as possible b/c she was an emotional wreck and demented in her own way in her devotion to Kathleen's memory.

I could be right, I could be wrong. I could be wrong, I could be right.

I think Billy was jealous of Kathleen. You saw all the toys she had. In the scene where she dies, Billy is trying to get the toy away from Kathleen, but she won't let go of it. It seems to me that Billy intentionally throws Kathleen into the lake. I don't think he meant to kill her, probably just scare the heck out of her. But she didn't come back up out of the water. The fact that obviously no one else in the family knew that Billy had caused her death, it is clear he never told them what had happened. I assume the rest of the family decided she fell in the water on her own. So Billy was living with the guilt of killing his sister. In an attempt to relieve his guilt, he makes the tombstone to place in the lake where she died, and made the wax doll, probably in an attempt to "care" for her and try to gain her forgiveness for what he'd done. Since Billy is Kathleen's (wax doll) protector, anyone who gets near her is killed by Billy. I don't think the dream about Richard was anything other than more of Billy's guilt that had consumed him.
