Why is everyone so angry about the film quality?

Come on now, this is a first-attempt film by FC, backed by Roger Corman (who spares no expense in his films). I think Coppola did a fine job with the limited resources he had. Plus, part of what makes the film experience enjoyable is the quality of the production. Kind of like those films Son of Svengoolie would show late at night on UHF television.

Have we all become so seduced by the advent of DVD that we've forgotten how to enjoy old films?

there was nothing wrong with the film quality, obviously these people on here are idiots... plain and simple,, I love old black and white horror movies,, this is a pretty darn good film I enjoyed very much.

Well, if it wasn`t for the silly dialogue and the occasional bits of overwrought melodrama... It does have its moments, though; some nice visual touches and the atmosphere frequently sticks. It`s not particularly bad.

It isn't the best film I've ever seen, but it certainly isn't the worst. Not even close. I actually wish more horror movies today took examples from this one because it had lots of suspense and atmosphere at moments and interesting characters.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.
