Why did they call this movie Dementia 13?

Watched this for the 1st time last night. Looking in the trivia section on IMDb, it states the '13' was added after the makers discovered a film called 'Dementia' had been made in the 1950s.

13 because the killer was 13 when he saw his sister drown, and it affected his mind since then.

On TCM they just said that Roger Corman added the 13 because it added an eerie feel to the title, because of the superstitious stigma with the number being unlucky.
