I'm not even halfway through the picture and so far the child actor is slapped across the face after becoming hysterical, asked if he has diarrhea, and then had a thermometer shoved up his butt by his next door neighbor. What's next? Cross dressing? Full frontal? How much does he have to take? Jeez.

shareIn those days, rectal was the most accurate way of taking a temperature, but certainly oral would be quite close if not the same. Rectal is very common for babies since they can't hold a thermometer under their tongue, but a kid Eddie's age could manage so I did think it a little weird especially in a movie. Of course the ear is more common today.

Thank God my mom used the mouth method--at least as far back as I can remember. If she did rectal when I was a baby, I sure hope she soaked that thing in alcohol before switching over.
