Tex's accent.

I've never been to Texas, but I thought Coburn's "Texas accent" was completely forced and unrealistic sounding.

(now somebody's going to tell me that he was born and raised in Texas) ..

In fact, I thought those three guys were all overdone and simplistic. I wonder if this was intentional, or just me. They weren't exactly the most subtly acted characters I've ever seen.

No kidding. That hurt the believable-ness of this film for me.

I noticed the accent too! It didn't sound genuine at all. It didn't bother me any, I just noticed it. But, accent or no, it's still a great movie. One that I've watched more than once and plan to watch again!

As a second generation Texan, believe me, Coburn's accent was "forced and unrealistic". Typical Hollywood stereotyping of Southern accents.

I didn't think it was that bad. And I am a Texan too. LOL. I've heard much worse. I guess it depends on what part of Texas you're from too because there are many different accents. He sounded not too unlike some accents in the Northeast area. Some of the sounds and emphasis placed on syllables can sound harsh and overdone or too country but are real nonetheless.

Overall, I think his drawl was OK, but his vowels were maybe more Deep South than Texan.
