Question on Last Phone Call

I know I missed something. Near the end of the movie Audrey Hepburn is crouching in a telephone booth at the subway and makes a phone call. It is answered by the switchboard at the Embassy. I thought the phone number she was given was the direct line to Walter Matthau's home. Where did she get the Embassy number? It is probably explained and I just missed it.

She knew Bartholomew was en-route to meeting her and was therefore not at his house (or office, I think he said the number was for both) So instead of calling the number given to her and getting no answer, she tried her luck with the embassy switchboard assuming they could contact Bartholomew.

She probably looked it up sometime and wrote it down, thinking that she might need it sooner or later. This isn't something that they had to show in the film. It would have been the logical thing for her to do (have both phone numbers on hand).

She was a foreigner there, working. Seems logical enough she already had the embassy's number in her purse and memory a long time already.
