Ask a stupid question about Bye Bye Birdie and get a stupid answer

Okay, in this game you have to ask a stupid question concering Bye Bye Birdie and get a stupid answer. It can be related to both the movie and show. I'll go first.

Q: Why does Rose want Albert to become an English Teacher when being the manager of a popular singer brings you more money?

Here's a word you'll see most IMDB users don't know about, no offense: Opinion.

reply

Because if he switches jobs, they will save a lot of money on their car insurance by switching to Geico!

Q: Why is it that the entire neighborhood ties up all the phone lines just b/c two kids decide to become a couple?

reply

Because they are the last town in America using one party line.

Q: Would a population boom really benefit a mortician?

reply

Yes, because if it doesn't, flying dogs will come out and gouge out the population boom's eyes.

Q; Why doesn't the public seem to not notice who Harry is after he punched a celebrity on live T.V.?!

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

reply

Because the entire town was blinded by the glare of Birdie's gold lame jumpsuit.

Q: If Rose is Spanish why does she never speak Spanish or have an accent?

reply

In the stage production my daughter is currently in, she does say 'Adios' to Albert's Mom.

reply

It's musical comedy. Next question, please.

reply

as this film is rated G, and is a musical, does anyone think this film is suitable for children as I notice this movie has several double-meanings in it?

reply

if the children are sophisticated / knowledgeable enough to understand the double entendres, then what's the difference. Most won't understand them.

reply

I think that YOU think that some of the lines have a risque double meaning, probably because you're listening to them through modern ears. I do NOT think that the lines have risque double meanings. This was a more innocent time, movie-wise. They really did make movies for the family without any hidden meanings that would be inappropriate for children.

You can find double meanings in everything and anything, if you want to view them that way. Even Disney movie cartoons Cinderella and Snow White. But we can all be assured that there is no way in "heck" that Walt Disney ever intended anything but the obvious, wholesome meaning of lines.

reply

More innocent times? Ok. Let's take the Mayor's wife. While waiting for Conrad to arrive, she appears prim and proper. When he starts warbling, instead of just fainting, her lower torso goes into twitches and convulsions and her hubby keeps trying to pull her dress together. Even better, many hours later, she is on top of her bed STILL flapping her legs open and shut and moaning softly. What does all THAT mean?

"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"
