The Dancing Blonde

Very curious about the blonde who dances with Frankie during the 'Don't Stop Now' number. What's her name? Has she done any movies since? Is she still around? I think she's the hottest chick in this movie!

Eva Six is the girl you're thinking of. Dunno if she ever did anything else, but you can look'r up on IMDB now. Take care.

reply

No, not Eva Six. Sorry, I should have clarified that, in my original post. I was referring to the girl in the blue-striped shirt, and the tight brown pants. The one Frankie dances with, after Eva Six, during the 'Don't Stop Now' number. Anyone have any idea what ever became of her?

reply

I was wondering that too. Everytime I see that scene with Frankie dancing with her, you can tell that there's something going on there, like they were probably dating or something or there was a courtship going on there. She dances really well.

I am watching "Beach Party" on THIS right now and I came here to find out the exact same thing. Who is that girl? It seems to me that I remember her from "Bikini Beach" also. In that one, during the fight at the end of the movie, Von Zipper's two female henchwomen have her by the arms and Von Zipper tries to "give her the finger." it doesn't work and she punches him in the stomach and walks off. I am pretty sure that was her. I wish we knew who she was and what else she did besides beach movies.

reply

Yeah, she's the same girl from "Bikini Beach." I gotta agree about that dance scene in "Beach Party." She's a hottie and the look on her face says that something was going on for sure!

If it's the same girl in both "Beach Party" (horizontal blue/black/gray-striped shirt + tan/brown pants while dancing w/ Frankie) and "Bikini Beach" (red shirt, held by two 'mice' while Von Zipper fingers her), then it's Luree Holmes . . .

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0391935/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t45

. . . because she's the only "background girl" in common between the 1963 & 1964 movies.

I'm not totally convinced, because

(a) the girl in "Beach Party" has platinum blond hair, while the "Bikini Beach" girl is more of a dirty blond

(b) they both have elastic hair bands (holding their hair off their foreheads), which may be confounding our ability to judge the similarity of their faces

(c) the "Beach Party" video I have access to is of poor quality, so I don't trust my judgement of their faces

But since Luree Holmes is (AIP chieftain) James H. Nicholson's daughter, it makes sense that she'd have a bit more prominence than most of the other "background girls".

PS -- I think the red-shirted girl hits Von Zipper in the nuts, not the stomach.

reply

Author & pop-culture sage Tom Lisanti tells me it's not Luree Holmes. Further confirmation comes from watching "Pajama Party", where Luree Holmes has a more prominent role ("Perfume Girl") and she's clearly not our Dancing Blonde.

I went through Beach Party's imdb cast list, and -- by process of elimination -- came up with the following possibilities:

Ashlyn Martin / Laura Lynn https://beachmovies.wordpress.com/2015/01/30/laura-lynn-aka-ashlyn-martin/
Donna Russell
Laura Nicholson https://beachmovies.wordpress.com/2015/01/30/laura-nicholson/
Lorrie Summers / Lorie Summers https://beachmovies.wordpress.com/2015/01/30/lorie-summers/
Marlo Baers
Pam Colbert https://beachmovies.wordpress.com/2015/01/30/pam-colbert/ *
Susan Yardley https://beachmovies.wordpress.com/2015/01/30/susan-yardley/ **
Valora Noland https://beachmovies.wordpress.com/2015/01/29/valora-noland/ https://24femmespersecond.wordpress.com/2013/09/11/valora-noland-with-a-camera/

The photos in the beachmovies.wordpress.com entries referenced above are all I can find on the web (i.e., these girls -- except Valora Noland -- were on the fringes of the industry). Although lots of these girls are blond, none of them seems to be the right shade of blond (Frankie's Favorite -- aka the blue-striped-shirt-brown-pants girl -- is platinum blond). Nor do any of their faces seem to be a good match for her.

Baers & Russell remain possibilities, but I suspect that, with no speaking lines, Frankie's Favorite isn't in the cast list at all, but was strictly a dancer, of the variety that you'd have seen go-go dancing in the background on The T.A.M.I. Show, Hullabaloo, Shindig, The Hollywood Palace, etc.,

* This photo is NOT her. Watch Gidget episode 1.1 "Dear Diary - Et Al." (free on YouTube as of this writing), Pam is the girl with (short blond hair & a green bikini emerging from behind a surfboard at 13:35.

** Susan is the blond girl w/ a yellow sleeveless blouse in the 1st scene of Gidget episode 1.20 "Ego-a-Go-Go".

Ned Wynn (Keenan's son, and a frequent "Beach Boy" in these movies) says

"They used to bring in beauty contest winners, often from other states. The role would be part of the winners prizes. Try Miss Georgia (or other states) from the early 60's. This girl looks like one of those."

I checked Miss Georgia's from 1961 & 1962 & 1963, but they don't match.

I did stumble across the 1961 MISS UNIVERSE, Marlene Schmidt (Germany), and she is a very distinct possibility (http://missosology.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=183251) . . . . but would they really give that role to a foreigner (in a quintessentially American movie) . . . . and would she (or any other beauty contest winner) really waste time on such a small role if it weren't billed (so she could use it as a jumping off point for bigger & better things)?

This beauty pageant winner angle doesn't make sense the more I think of it.

But let's thank Ned Wynn for at least replying with some thoughts on the matter.

I just saw this last night and I want to know the same thing. She's hot.

There must really be something about the "Girl in the Blue Striped Shirt" because I, too, came to these boards looking for the same answers. She has got some great moves and makes some special eye contact with ol' Frankie. I also got the impression that they had something going on...however she makes some pretty good connections with the guy she dances with when everyone joins in.

The dancing blonde who is not the buxom blonde, Eva Six, is Candy Johnson. She's in all the Beach movies, usually has no speaking voice and dances while the credits role at the end.

reply

yeah, she's dancing over part of the end credits, with her name displayed.

Looks like she passed away a couple of years ago.

The hot blonde with the blue striped horizontal shirt and tight slacks is by far the hottest chick in this movie ... She makes very seductive eye contact with the other boy she dances with other than Frankie ...

She's not Marlene Schmidt, Miss Germany '61 ...
Just a Hot California surfer chick ...

If anybody is friends with Mr Avalon I bet he'd remember her ...

reply

I came here trying to find out the same thing. She's not Candy and she isn't Ava in the movies. She is never addressed by name that I can remember.

reply

You are right. We are not referring to those two. She was not buxom but she could dance and shake. In fact there were two blondes one with a blue and white striped stripe shirt and short hair. The other had a striped shirt and hair in a ponytail who could move. That is the one I am curious about.

The dancing blonde in the blue striped tee shirt is identified online as Susan Yardley. She wasn't in Bikini Beach and she is not Luree Holmes.
