What an amazing show for a kid in the 60's ...

The Outer Limits was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I was in elementary school when it first came out and was so bowled over by it. I never could get into "Twilight Zone" because it was horror and fantasy, whereas TOL was science fiction and I loved it.

It's hard to pick a favorite because back then the writing and editing was so good they never let a bad show get done. I think of note was the one about the robot that was on trial.

I am amazed as I look back at how much of my imagination and personality was formed by watching these shows. I found it also hard to get into the new series because they were just not as well done or as logical.

I also prefer TOL over the Twilight Zone, for the most part.

And some of my favorite episodes didn't even have a sci-fi element, such as the one with the spy surgically altered to take the place of a politician (I can't remember the title).

100 Days of the Dragon. The politician was supposed to be Dwight D. Eisenhower and the VP candidate was supposed to be Richard Nixon.

Yup, that's the one!

The reprise had a terrific episode as well. i forget the title but it concerns an alien that comes to earth disguised in the body of a woman. She marries unbeknowst to a mortal. The alien is hideous to us the viewer, a big hulking mass of flesh and dung, like "Pizza the Hut" in "Spaceballs." - To the woman's husband the woman only grows more beautiful, but, the longer she is on earth the more of a foul smell she emits. It is a great OL

Recently started watching on Tubi. A good series. The second episode is outstanding, where an Asian dictator plans to replace key figures in the US government with imposters who look and sound exactly like the real thing. It's a well thought out plan, down to the last detail, as much as they can since DNA sequencing was decades away. There are a few extremely chilling scenes I didn't expect for a 60s tv series. Without spoilers, I wish they had gone another way for the ending.
