While it's great to know that this visually stunning (and under-appreciated) show will finally make Blu Ray, the comparisons between this series and "The Twilight Zone" are irritating at best. TZ was about man's struggle with man; many themes
were incorporated. OL focused on the brilliant, new exploration of space. Pure sci-fi.
Such stupid comments...and from viewers who should know better.
They were both wonderful shows. "TZ" was more Kafkaesque. "OL" was more Lovecraftian. Neither one of them should be missed.
Legendary cinematographer Conrad Hall truly did some groundbreaking work on this show; no doubt Blu-ray will make all of it look amazing.
Expect this to be pricey. The box set for the DVDs was outrageous. Also, I hope these are FRESH transfers, and
simply not the DVD transfers on HD. I say this because many noted some bad framing on the DVDs. I only
own the first half of the first season, which I got on DVD five years ago. Then they all went out of print before I
could purchase the second half of the first season. I'm not too certain about owning the second season, as the
Ben Brady shows are totally different in lighting and tone. There are several great episodes, but also several
clunkers.

Whoa, a hundred bucks just for the first season.
I think I'll hang on to the DVDs for a little while longer, and see how long it takes for the blu-ray to go down in price.

shareAfter seeing numerous (positive) reviews, I'm shelling the money out. It's too unique and terrific a series, and
to get THIRTY TWO episodes in HD from that magical first year is worth the money. They obviously paid
experts a great deal of money to restore it. And for those who carp, I can promise you one thing: if it sells
poorly (I doubt it will) there will be NO season two, which is why there's such a gap in the release dates. History
repeats itself. When DVDS of classic shows slowed down in sales, they simply stopped releasing them ("The
Big Valley" comes to mind. Only two of the four seasons released).

I have watched the entire first season, and wanted to compare notes with a fan who also has.
MOST of the episodes look great, far superior in clarity to the DVDs. But two stick out as only looking DVD
quality: "The Special One" and "The Feasibility Study."
A flawed source can't be the reason, as both episodes are very clean - they just look like they're, well, NON-
blu ray. Odd.
Any other thoughts?
Btw, I wound up paying $65 for mine. Worth every penny. Simply a great series.
That's strange. Maybe those episodes were upscaled from a standard-definition source for some reason. Maybe the original film masters were unavailable?

Well, have you seen them? I've yet to discuss it with someone who has (nobody in my personal life cares
about the show).
I have watched the entire series, but, alas, I've only seen it in standard definition, as I haven't had the chance to get the blu-rays.

I only owned the first HALF of the first season on DVD, so I can't compare "The Special One" or
"A Feasibility Study" from Blu Ray to DVD.
I hadn't seen many episodes in years, and certainly don't love them all. "Specimen: Unknown" is
flat-out awful (but stunning on Blu Ray), and "The Mutant" is also horrible.
The episode that surprised me most was the finale, "The Forms of Things Unknown." It's gloriously
photographed, and has a great cast, but the script is so muddy and underdeveloped. A total
triumph of style over substance. I watched it three times, enjoying it less each viewing. Weird.
