This series should never have had previews at the beginning of episodes.
That took away from the suspense and surprise factor of the stories.

Leslie Stevens felt the same way, but the network insisted that a teaser be added at the start of the show, preferably showing some sort of monster as a hook. The all-knowing network execs claimed their research showed that viewer interest jumped when they saw a monster in the teaser. But they never really understood the show or gave it the support it deserved, which is why it was canceled mid way through the 2nd season.

Yeah, they wanted to show a glimpse of the 'Bear' in each episode. People say it became 'Monster of the Week'.
shareI'd go so far as to say they should be edited out of the re-issues, because they are merely spoilers. Save them for the DVD bonus features, if at all.
Or as an alternative, put a chapter stop after the teaser, so we can skip it.
There are a few episodes where the opening is integral to the plot, which is a different matter.

Mission impossible is even worse. I look away for three minutes to avoid "pre-watching" the show.
Hulu doesn't show the Outer Limits preview parts by the way. A great place to watch the shows, other than the commercials.
Netflix DOES show the MI previews - Boo Hiss.
I always enjoyed the previews of the creatures. I guess I was one of the ones the Networks polled.
