COMET TV Marathon May 1, 2016

No posts? Anyone else out there agree that most/all of these episodes could have been boiled down to a half-hour instead of an hour and been just as effective? Just sayin'...

I'm watching the marathon now. I always liked this show almost as much as the original Twilight Zone (the reboots of both shows in the 90's were horrible).

Anyway, I like the hour format. Half hour eps would be too rushed and would lose suspense imo.

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

Totally agreed about TOL being almost as good as the original TZ. Just seems like when so many of the old late '50's/early'60's series went with or switched over to 1 hour formats, they lost some potency.
One hour formats seem to border on going into near "movie length". Just my opinion. But I see your side of it.

The hour long episodes flesh out the plot and the characters. Half-hour versions would have been just basic "paint-by-numbers" with no meat to them. But I guess it depends on your attention span.

My opinion is that no dramas, ever, should be half an hour. It's one of the main reasons I'm not a fan of Twilight Zone.

Really? Such a blanket statement. What works for one show, doesn't
work for another. The Twilight Zone's great episodes are the half-hour
installments. The WORST are the hour-long episodes. Same with Alfred
Hitchcock Presents. The OL, however, was DESIGEND, produced and written
as an hour-long series, which is why it works best in that format.

And, finally, will we ever see the day when people stop comparing TZ to
OL???? They are two different shows. Enough already.
