Zzzzzz

I thought this was a very great scary episode. However I have a question. After Regina let the bees loose on Francesca the doctor told Ben that she didn't die from the bee stings but from some kind of poison. That's very contradictory because the bees carry the venom in their stings so if she didn't die from the stings, what poison was the doctor talking about?

reply

Going out on a limb here (I probably need to look at the episode again) But, if that was the line, the only explanation I can think of would be the since these bees were intelligent enough to accomplish the transformation of their queen to be human, then, perhaps they had developed their stinging agent into a more deadly poison. A form of chemical warfare. Just a thought.

reply

I think that line was included to strengthen the metaphor of Regina as a woman who kills to get the man she loves.

Having said that, I can't help it, but I ADORED Regina. She was the most beautiful actress in the entire series. She was so enticingly vulnerable and soft, with just a touch of wickedness. I can't imagine any man resisting her. And in a strange way, I was rooting for her the whole episode, and was even glad that at the end, she didn't really "die," merely transformed back into bee mode.

i just watched ZZZZZ last night, and wow! joanna frank was so unbelievably hot!
she was incredibly sexy, alluring, litte-girlish, haunting, and a vixen, all rolled up into one.
i think her most wonderful scene was when she was literally prancing around the garden licking all the flowers, and then when she got to the little pond and licked at those water flowers, well! it was probably one of the most sensual scenes i've ever seen.
it's a shame she didn't have a longer career. hopefully that was HER choice.

i also think that marsha hunt did a wonderful job as the wife francesca. but then again, i've never seen her put in a bad performance.

Joanna Frank was a gorgeous actress. I loves the scenes where she was alone, and the camera showed the close-ups of her bee eyes. I would have loved to see a little more of how the bees managed to enable their queen bee transform into a human. That's the only gap in the story

reply

Saw this episode in January 1964 was 18 and loved her from the very first
scene. Could not believe she didn't have more of a movie career. She was
very good in ZZZZZZ!, and really easy on the eyes.

reply

You mean eazzzzzeee on the eyezzzzzzzz!

reply

I agree. She was really quite beautiful in that role; and perfectly cast, too. She played it with just the right amount of malevolence to make her character quite disturbing, yet through it all so easy on the eyes. She could have been just another pretty face in that role and overplayed it, but to her credit she did a terrific job, I thought.

reply

I thought her best feature was the hair that always hung down over one eye, and the way she liked to chew on it. Very girly and alluring. Either she or the director sure knew how to be desirable.

She was definitely very bee-utiful!

Technically, when she first appeared in the garden she should have been naked since bees don't wear clothes!

Anyone else agree to that?

reply

Possibly, though its also likely that she was using some hypnotic powers to decieve them.A strange but memorable episode.By the way,Joanna Frank also appeared as a similiar type of woman on "The Fugitive" in an episode titled 'Where The Action Is'.

reply

yes , I would've-loved to have seen-Her , without-Clothes !!!

I was only 5 Years-Old , when I first saw This Episode !

reply

Everytime this is on - i have to look up Joanna Frank again --- sooo bad she never did an ST.

I recently saw a TV show that talked about The Outer Limits among other shows and they mentioned this episode an had her as a guest. She still looks quite stunning considering her age now.

The Bee Queen while in human form looked like the first emo (female emo) or first pre-emo in the world.

I'll let you know when I come-up with a new signature, .
