yeah, THE BORDERLAND did have a higher budget feel about it...


setups, camera angles and all the lab people-usually new shows will blow their budget on the first couple episodes to put their finest foot forward, then go back to smaller budgets once and if they have hooked an audience.
also....TOL was at one point, originally going to be titled PLEASE STAND BY-and in this episode they use the term several times, so maybe it was going to be broadcast first.....

I always liked their stories that had to do with theoretical physics.....GALAXY BEING, BORDERLANDS, IT CRAWLED FROM THE WOODWORK, THE PRODUCTION AND DECAY OF STRANGE PARTICLES, etc

To be fair, this WAS one of the very first episodes filmed. But I do agree about the quality of this episode, OP, and like you I liked the episodes like this that challenged standard, mundane attitudes about the nature of the universe. Ahead of it's time.

The Borderland used to scare the living daylights out of me when I was a kid. As a matter of fact, it still scares the living daylights out of me.
