Yup. I am just going to remove IMDb from my bookmarks. I will miss the conversation and camaraderie, but I don't think I'll find anything else comparable.

I love how they have the gall to say it's for a better consumer experience to take away the forums and replace them with "social media" interaction.
The bottom line is this will actually cause MORE work for IMDB in the long run. As new social media platforms start to dominate, they must be added to the social media interfaces of IMDB. If they keep the forums, there's nothing to alter.
Most likely? IMDB is just doing this to "shift the blame." Too many trolls, etc. on the forums and they could be held directly responsible for their actions because it's IMDB's forums. If they interact entirely with social media platforms, those platforms are responsible for the actions of the trolls. Not IMDB.

I dare say. This board was good, but the 2005 one descended into a troll-fest years ago, and stayed that way. I don't know if that was symptomatic of a scaling back of admin over the years. But I can see why IMDb would look at boards like that and decide it's not representative of the image they want to present, or might compromise advertising revenue streams.
Sadly, the end result is the good gets flushed away along with the bad, and our rather more genteel little corner gets scrapped as well.

This one is quiet and respectful. It's wrong that the trouble people caused on other boards has ended up hurting this one. share
