Was this the footage used in the April 4th 2007 episode of Boston Legal? They showed Denny Crane having a memory of trying a case with his father. I was wondering if anyone can verify this?

He and Michael Ansara, (later "Kang" the Klingon on Star Trek), played beachside roomates- Shatner an artist, Ansara a surfer. I'm not sure what "footage" you are talking aobut but he's not a lawyer in this.
You may be thinking of the original 1957 pilot for the defenders, where Ralph Bellamy played Lawrence Preston and Shatner was his son, Kenneth, roles later played by E G Marshall and Robert Reed in the series that came out some years later. Steve McQueen was the defendant. Shatner was also in the premiere of the series in a different role- the defendant in an entirely different story.
