Since when a rich guy wants to 'play' cops??

And living in a high faluting mansion, riding a highfaluting, and ridiculous, limousine with an Asian driver, and butler? And with a cops' salary? [In Los Angeles a cop started around $400 bucks as a monthly salary back in the 1960s, correction accepted] A grand federal jury will be called to investigate this phony cop named Burke. Is this the way Mr. Spelling treated the average viewer like some immature idiot? No wonder what Mr. H.L. Mencken once said, "nobody has ever gone broke underestimating the American public". Damn!

Wow did you really think "Burke's Law" was real life? As far as living the good life on a cops pay check if you watched the first episode he got his money from his father and he's a cop because he's good at it. Chill out it's just a TV show.

I know it's a tv show as fictional as "Looney Tunes" cartoons. But what other tv viewers are saying?

I always looked at Burke's Law as a 100% spoof, not at all grounded in anything remotely resembling reality. Just a fun show with great kooky guest stars, and lots of eye-candy. Not to mention the VERY politically incorrect comments the cops would make, much of it embarrassing and unprofessional. This is what Spelling Entertainment was known for, for decades.

In the pilot episode, someone asks Gary Conway's character that very question and that is his very answer:

"Because he's good at it."

One wonders if such a thing could ever actually even be allowed in real life. Elected politicians are often, of course, very rich(or become rich.) They're millionaires...billionaires. I suppose if a rich person were willing to adhere to "the rules" (working their way up through the ranks - imagine Burke as a beat cop)...they could do it.

But no..its a fantasy. Like Perry Mason and Columbo. A formula to be followed. Entertainment follows.

They weren't trying to make a realistic cop show and never pretended they were. The fact that a fantasy isn't realistic doesn'tean the audience is stupid.

Not that I want to "brag" but...what can you expect from a guy obsessed of reading history [I am quite knowledgeable of Hitler's Germany], and once thought of studying law seriously? If I didn't it was because I don't compromise my principles easily.

Then don't watch it.

By the way I read alot of history as well. I just don't treat everything as if it were history.
