shareTo be precise the medication was not in pill form, but was dropped from a bottle into a glass right before he answers the phone in his apartment. I assume it is some form of sleep medication to counter what is likely uppers he took during the day.

Some are bipolar: what used to be called manic-depressive. Piero, no doubt had to take sleeping pills to counteract his high energy, hyperactive, even 'manic' personality.
