In reference to the scene in the Pub, where Capt. Rickson spears the egg atop Junior's head; I doubt like hell that the proprietor would have furnished the egg for such shenanigans since food was scarce and rationed.

They probably got the eggs from the base PX - and hopefully slipped a few extra to the pub landlord.

Nice theory, but I just started reading the novel, and one detail it emphasized was that the only eggs available on the base were reconstituted, watery powdered eggs.
