I just watched this again recently, and was very impressed with how beautiful -- and *modern* -- the cinematography was in the opening credits.
I've seen this fine film who knows how many times, yet this is the first time I noticed the credits. Probably because I have a bad habit of skipping ahead to where films actually begin.
Anyone else struck by the amazing work done on the opening credits?

I like the credits too. It really sets the tone of the film..... the story seen through the eyes of a child. I like the little sing song and giggling of the child and the bits and pieces of saved "treasures"from the cigar box.
This film -- like the book -- is magical from beginning to end.

Completely agree, the film and book are both magical from start to finish. I understand Lee Harper loved the film, and it's easy to see why.
shareOh yes, I love the saved treasures too, and the sing-song, but did you ever notice the font used and how it's filmed differently than the film itself? I hadn't.
