That Haunting Elmer Bernstein music!

Few films in history were matched with such an originally poignant musical score. Perfectly suited for the story and at times pretty creepy, it's pretty unforgettable stuff!

Even larks and katydids are, supposed by some, to dream

I absolutely love the music. It's one of my favourite soundtracks. It's full of childhood wonder, innocence, memories and a tinge of nostalgic regret in hindsight. It perfectly captures the sense of an older Scout looking back at her childhood, relieving all the fun and innocence, while knowing that it is now past.

What I love is opening credits.
The marble rolls and hits the other marble.
"Bing"
Alford and Badham's credits appear, Bernstein's music swells and the tears start to flow.
I know, it's probably one of the best opening credit sequences of all time. And you only understand the significance of the box and its contents later on in the movie.

Also, while the symbolism might be a bit "obvious" to some, I love how the child draws a bird and then tears the drawing in half almost playfully. You get the feeling that she has witnessed something ugly that no child should have to witness, and that it will stay with her forever.

I agree - the theme was hauntingly beautiful and evocative.
I watched yesterday and am still humming it today.

It's easily my favorite movie theme of all time. So beautiful.
