Well if she was in both books that much, I imagine she made the same impression on Harper Lee as she did on you!
My observation is every southern family had at least one. I was there.

I found her character most compelling. Aunt Alexandra hounds Scout about not being more lady-like & hates her wearing overalls. However... after the attack & Scout makes it home in her slip (minus the ham costume), first thing Aunt Alexandra does id get Scout her overalls. π

She and Uncle Jack were pretty important characters in the novel. I miss them when I watch this movie.
